Galaxy advert CSP

 1) What key conventions of TV advertising can you find in the Galaxy advert?

 product/ company name

2) What is the key message the Galaxy advert is communicating about its chocolate? The slogan for the advert will help you with this question.

That why have cotton when you can something better like silk

3) Who is Audrey Hepburn and why did Galaxy select Audrey Hepburn for this advert?

Audrey Hepburn was a famous hollywood actor in the 1950 who is dead now but galaxy got permission from her sons to use cg1 for the advert. They used here because she resembles the heroine and she was popular.

4) What is intertextuality?

seeks and theorises links and connections between media texts and textualized social life

5) What Audrey Hepburn films are suggested in this advert and how is this effect created (e.g. mise-en-scene - CLAMPS: costume, lighting, actors, make-up, props, setting)?

Audrey Hepburn also know as the heroine has makeup on and is white because back in the 1950`s most "good/pretty" women looked like that. The hat that she took of the bus driver was the prop that she ended up using on the man in the car

6) Which of Propp's character types are can be found in the advert and how do they change? (Note: just choose two or three character types that are definitely used in the advert - it does not use all seven).

Heroine (princess): Audrey hepburn
Villain: fruit (watermelon) because it was blocking the bus from going pass
Hero: The chauffeur because he saved Audrey Hepburn by driving her to her destination
false hero: the bus because it never managed to go where it had to go.
Helper: the car because with out the car the hero would be useless and she will not be ably to go.

7) How does the advert's narrative (story) follow Todorov's theory of equilibrium?

the reason why it links is because even though Audrey Hepburn is a celebrity  it doesn't mean she can't live a normal life in a bus and eat a chocolate bar like we would today

8) What representation of celebrity can be found in this advert? Think about how Audrey Hepburn is presented.

Audrey Hepburn is represented as the heroine/ princess because she shows a sign of beauty like the heroine

9) What representations of gender can you find in this advert?

That the man needs to work and provide because the bus driver was a man driving people around while his wife was probably at home looking after the kids and cleaning the house the chauffeur that took Audrey Hepburn to her destination was also a man doing his duty as a man.

10) How are stereotypes subverted at the end of the Galaxy advert to reflect modern social and cultural contexts?

Back then this advert made sense but in this day and age people might find it sexist because why wasn't the drivers a women and why did the women need a lift from a man?
